Woman charged in connection with Bayshore mall theft

A woman from the Greater Toronto Area was arrested and charged in connection with a retail theft from an Ottawa mall.

Police said in a press release that they laid charges after a theft took place from a store inside Bayshore Shopping Centre on Jan. 20. At around 5:30 p.m., officers responded to the report, where the suspect left the area in a vehicle.

Officials were later able to track the vehicle to the 1200 block of Carling Avenue. Using search warrants, police looked through the vehicle and the place where the woman was staying. They found a large quantity of stolen merchandise, the press release notes.

As a result, a 49-year-old woman from Brampton, Ont., is facing two counts of theft under $5,000.

Ottawa police said the charges are in relation to the Jan. 20 incident and other high-value thefts reported in August 2025.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the West Criminal Investigations Unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 2666.
