Official FIFA World Cup trophy in Ottawa for photos with fans

As the excitement builds to the beginning of the 2026 World Cup, the official trophy is in the nation’s capital on Sunday.
Fans can stop by Lansdowne Park between 11:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. to see the original FIFA World Cup Trophy that will be raised by the victorious team at the end of the tournament.
The free one-day event also promises people the chance to meet the official mascots, Maple the Moose, Zayu the Jaguar and Clutch the Bald Eagle, paying homage to the tri-host countries of the games.
The trophy has been journeying across the country, allowing people to get up close — through glass — to the historic item.
“As the country prepares to host its first FIFA World Cup alongside Mexico and the United States; Canada Celebrates will carry the energy, pride and passion that are synonymous with the tournament beyond the Host Cities of Toronto and Vancouver as part of this historic global occasion,” the press release reads.
The first game kicks off on June 11 and runs through to July 19.
The last game in Toronto is on July 2. Canada’s matches will be played on June 12, June 18, and June 24 for the group stages.
FIFA fever is expected to take over the city, and dramatically boost GDP, which is expected to have ramifications across the country.
Ontarians will be able to drink later into the early morning hours during the FIFA World Cup.
As first reported by CityNews, the Ford government announced plans to extend last call until 4 a.m for the duration of the tournament. Some LCBOs will also stay open later.
Normally, licensed establishments can serve alcohol only until 2 a.m., but the province will allow restaurants and bars to sell alcohol until 4 a.m. between June 11 and July 19.
The LCBO is extending hours at 27 of its retail stores across Ottawa and the Greater Toronto Area for the duration of the World Cup.
Extended hours at select stores will be 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays.
