2 teens facing charges in connection with stabbing at Mooney’s Bay Park

Two youths are facing assault charges after an altercation broke out near Mooney’s Bay Park, which ended with a teen being stabbed.

On May 30, police were called to the Terry Fox Athletic Facility on Riverside Drive around 8:53 p.m. According to officials, a fight broke out.

In the incident, a teenager was stabbed, and police stepped in to provide him medical care before paramedics arrived. Emergency responders stabilized him en route to the hospital but he was in critical condition.

Another teen was also taken to hospital, but she had non-life-threatening injuries.

On June 25, nearly a month after the altercation, police laid charges against two teens.

A 16-year-old is facing charges of:

  • Aggravated assault (2 counts)
  • Weapon dangerous
  • Assault with weapon (2 counts)
  • Carry concealed weapon

A 15-year-old is charged with assault with a weapon and weapon dangerous.

Both boys’ identities are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
