Ottawa police have charged 56-year-old Mihalj (Mike) Nemet with first degree murder in connection with the stabbing death of his wife Tinde Nemet .
Tinde was stabbed to death yesterday morning in her Carleton Heights home in front of her 15-year-old son Thomas.
Police were on scene at 1564 Fisher Avenue, near Meadowlands, for most of the day yesterday.
Nemet appeared in court this morning and will make another appearance on March 21.
It is believed that the family, who originally migrated to Canada from Serbia, moved to Ottawa a couple of years ago from Sudbury.
Neighbors say they could hear the couple fighting constantly and in recent weeks, Mihalj moved out of the home he shared with his 46-year-old wife.
Nemet, who sports a bald head, wore black dress pants and a black shirt when he appeared in court.
Courthouse records show that Nemet was already to appear in court next Friday on a charge of assaulting his 19-year-old daughter Teodora, for an incident that allegedly occurred on January 26.
