Voluntary recall of Children’s Strength Acetaminophen Tablets issued

OTTAWA, Ont. – Health Canada is advising Canadians that Tanta Pharmaceuticals is voluntarily recalling Junior Strength Acetaminophen Tablets (160 mg) and Children’s Strength Acetaminophen Tablets (80 mg), due to faulty child-resistant packaging.

The pharmaceutical company said the child safety mechanism on some of the caps may not lock properly, and some could open even in the locked position, presenting a risk of overdose to children.

The drugs are sold at Loblaws, Shoppers Drug Mart (under the Life brand), Preferred Pharmacy and other retail locations across Canada. Stores are being asked to remove the affected products from their shelves.
