The first female candidate for the NDP leadership should be in the race by Friday.

Peggy Nash has sent out a notice to media saying she will make a leadership announcement in Toronto.

It is widely believed she will enter the race, especially after people began calling media outlets saying they were with the Peggy Nash campaign.

Deputy leader Thomas Mulcair, former party president Brian Topp and Ottawa MP Paul Dewar are among the six declared candidates so far.
