Inflation rate stays the same in November

Statistics Canada says annual inflation remained a relatively strong at 2.9 per cent in November as consumers continued to pay more for basic items such as gasoline and food.
The agency says Canadians continue being charged significantly more at the pump over the same time last year, but the increase is moderating.
Gas cost 13.5 per cent more last month than it did 12 months earlier, but the gain was less than the 18.2 per cent annual premium observed in October. On a month-to-month basis, gas prices fell 2.3 per cent in November from October.
Meanwhile, food prices appear to be firming, says the agency. Food cost 4.8 per cent more in November from 12 months earlier, the largest gain since 2009.
Statistics Canada says inflation rose last month in every province, with the biggest increase recorded in Newfoundland and Labrador at 4.1 per cent.
