Ottawa police seize guns, drugs, more than $100K in South Keys drug bust

An Ottawa man is facing multiple charges in connection with a drug investigation that began earlier this year. 

In January 2023, the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) Street Crime Unit began an investigation into a man alleged to be trafficking drugs throughout the city. 

The investigation led to a search warrant being executed in the 3300 block of Southgate Road, in South Keys, on Friday, March 3.

Officers seized the following items:

  • Loaded 9mm Beretta Pistol (prohibited)
  • 500 rounds of 9mm ammunition
  • Currency estimated to be in excess of $100,000
  • 18.5 grams of crack cocaine
  • 61.8 grams cocaine
  • 107 ml unknown liquid
  • 42 Lorazepam pills
  • 114 oxycodone pills
  • 272 hydromorphone pills
  • 21 amphetamine pills
  • 2018 Honda Civic (Asset Forfeiture)

Thang Van Josua, 21, of Ottawa, was arrested for a variety of CDSA, proceeds of crime and firearms-related offences and has appeared in court.
