A dozen townhomes under construction near Canadian Tire Centre have been destroyed following a massive fire.
Ottawa Fire Services received multiple 911 calls shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday night reporting heavy smoke near Palladium Drive that could be seen from North Gower.
A number of callers also reported propane tanks outside the homes and said they could pose a risk to firefighters.
Videos and pictures on Twitter (link to something) show flames engulfing the structure, shooting tens of feet into the air.

Once on the scene, firefighters began cooling the propane tanks and protecting the homes unaffected by fire.
Crews were able to save 24 of the 36 units in the townhouse complex but the other homes were destroyed.
A fire investigator has been called in to determine the cause.
