Alfredsson vying for Senators front office gig

With new ownership coming soon for the Ottawa Senators, hall of famer Daniel Alfredsson is throwing his hat into the ring for a front office role.

Alfredsson said he was offered a role earlier this year, but he didn't want anything official for fear of losing the job with the incoming ownership change.

“I feel like I have a lot to contribute,” said Alfredsson. “We will see what happens with the new ownership, but that's my dream job.”

Alfredsson said he would want a meaningful role, and believes he has a lot to offer the franchise with a very young core.

“I really like what I see in the players,” said Alfredsson. “I think the future here will be very exciting.”

The Senators legend spent two years in the club's front office after he retired before stepping down in 2017.

Alfredsson said an ownership change would be a positive for the Senators and it would be great if actor Ryan Reynolds had a role to play.

The franchise is set to be sold in the next few months, and over a dozen potential owners have already expressed interest.
