By Alex Black

The all-clear has been given in Brockville after a chemical spill at the 3M plant.

Around 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, October 28, the Brockville Fire Department responded to the plant after an employee activated an alarm due to the smell of an unknown odour.

The plant and a neighbouring business, which was downwind, were evacuated out of an abundance of caution.

Shortly after 11 a.m., the Ottawa Fire Services' (OFS) hazmat team was called to the scene by the Ontario Fire Marshal's Office (OFM) to support as part of a provincial response to the incident.

The leak was contained to the building and officials say there was no risk to the public.

Two people sustained minor injuries and one person was taken to hospital and quickly released.

The exact nature of the leak, or the chemical involved, has not been released.
