By Mike Vlasveld

Expedia.ca says Brockville and Perth are two of the most active cities in Canada.

It named 21 Canadian cities in its ranking, based on the following criteria:

– Average number of marathons and hiking trails
– Access to bike paths, trails, and races
– Gyms per capita, including but not limited to CrossFit, yoga studios, rock climbing, etc.
– Abundance of outdoor activities such as kayaking, canoeing, etc.

Perth came in at #13, receiving the highest possible score for 'running and hiking.'

Expedia mentioned the town's annual World Record Kilt Run, as well as boating at Last Duel Park, the walking trails along the Wendy Laut Ribbon of Life, and martial arts at the Perth Athletic Centre.

Brockville was #7 overall, with its highest score coming in 'outdoor sports.'

Expedia talked about the town's Freeze Your Buns series, “where runners hit the pavement in chill-whipped conditions.”

It was also impressed by the more than two dozen shipwrecks around the area, “making scuba diving a top weekend activity,” and made mention of trails, bike paths and great places paddle like the 1000 Islands.
