Camp Fortune ‘making winter happen’ as it opens for ski season

By CityNews Ottawa

There may not be a ton of snow on the ground in the capital region, but that's not going to stop Camp Fortune from opening ski slopes for the 2021-2022 season.

Friday, December 3, marks the first day welcoming residents and visitors to the camp for the season.

“As soon as the temperatures drop consistently to -5 (C ) at night, we turn on the snow guns and make winter happen,” Assistant Director Erin Boucher tells CityNews. “So we have two runs open right now. We do have 25 — so that's two of 25, and that's on man-made snow.”

Boucher says season passes are sold out, but single day tickets are available. She suggests anyone heading for the hills to plan ahead, however.

COVID-19 vaccinations are mandatory at ski lifts in Quebec.
