The Ottawa Hospital's (TOH) new Civic Campus has cleared another hurdle after city council approved its site plan.
The vote around the council table on Wednesday, October 13, was 19 to 4. A handful of councillors lamented the new civic not being located on the former proposed site, located directly across the street from the existing hospital and west of the approved site.
“It has been a monumental couple of weeks for The Ottawa Hospital’s new Civic development project,” TOH tweeted on Wednesday.
The National Capital Commission approved the plan last week.
“These two important approvals are key to allow us to begin planning and designing our new state-of-the-art hospital – a facility that will transform health care for patients across our region for generations to come,” said the hospital.
“We are grateful for the support from all levels of government, our dedicated staff & our community, who have provided constructive feedback and ideas to improve the project. We will continue to work together to ensure the new campus is a vital part of our growing community,” TOH concluded.
