Damage pegged at $750,000 after house fire south of Kars

A home has been severely damaged in an overnight house fire south of Kars.

Shortly before 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 11, Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) responded to a home on Rideau Valley Drive South after a 911 call reporting flames coming from the exterior of the home.

When crews arrived, firefighters confirmed flames coming from the roof of an attached garage, which were spreading to the roof of the home.

Crews worked to bring the fire under control, bringing in an excavator to help move debris so firefighters could tackle hot spots.

There are no injuries reported and damage to the home is estimated around $750,000.

A fire investigator has been dispatched to look into the cause of the blaze.
