Capital Pride is bringing the local 2SLGBTQ+ community together for a third straight winter, but it's the first time it will be doing so virtually.
Due to public health guidelines, there will not be an opportunity to celebrate in person, but Capital Pride is excited about the events it has planned, from February 8 to 12.
It kicks off on Monday, February 8, with 'Our Voices: Anti-Black Racism — A Black Queer Perspective speaker series. Pride organizers say the event furthers their mission to create spaces for marginalized members of the community.
That is followed by The Drag Family Hour on February 9.
On February 10, the Capital Pride Youth Committee and Dress for Success is presenting, 'FIERCE! Virtual First Impressions.' This event is expected to feature tips and tricks on how to find a job, and how to get noticed in a virtual world.
That evening, Capital Pride presents 'It’s Drag Henny! Winter Edition' hosted by Rupaul Drag Race Season 8 Winner Bob the Drag Queen.
Thursday night is 'Queer Acoustic Soul featuring Kimberly Sunstrum.' Sunstrum is a local musician who blends classic R&B, old-time country and 70’s Motown power bops.
WinterPride then wraps up on Friday, February 12, with a youth-focused art show, featuring local 2SLGBTQ+ artists.
