Researchers with Western University's Northern Tornadoes Project confirmed a tornado passed through Carleton Place on Thusday, June 16.
Experts said the tornado happened in the area west of Ottawa at roughly 4:10 p.m.
“Witnesses captured video of a circulation lofting dust and debris beneath a supercell with visible rotation at cloud base,” a blog posed by researchers stated. “The tornado persisted for several minutes in an open field and caused no damage according to witnesses. Further investigation is pending, including satellite imagery review.”
The EF-scale rating defaults to EF0 due to the fact the tornado caused no damage.
