Family Day 2023: What’s open and closed in Ottawa

The Family Day long weekend has arrived and residents can expect some attractions and businesses to be closed or operate under limited or reduced hours on the holiday Monday.
LCBO and Beer Store locations will be closed on Monday, Feb. 20, along with government offices, banks, and libraries.
Most grocery stores are closed on Family Day with a few exceptions:
- Loblaws at 363 Rideau Street: 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Loblaws at 64 Isabella Street: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Metro at 754 Bank: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Wholefoods at Lansdowne: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Most malls and shopping centres are closed on Monday, with the exception of the Rideau Centre, which will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the Tanger Outlet Mall in Kanata, which will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
City of Ottawa services:
Client Service Centres:
The City's 311 Contact Centre will be open for urgent matters only. Please visit ottawa.ca/311 for more information.
The Client Services Centres at Ottawa City Hall, Ben Franklin Place, 580 Terry Fox Drive and 255 Centrum Boulevard, as well as the City's Provincial Offences Court at 100 Constellation Drive, will be closed.
Green bin, recycling and garbage collection:
There will be no curbside green bin, recycling, garbage or bulky item collection on Monday, with pick-up taking place on Tuesday, Feb. 21. In addition, the collection will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.
Multi-residential garbage containers will be collected on the regular scheduled day, while multi-residential recycling container and green bin collection will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.
The Trail Waste Facility will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Parking:
Special parking restrictions will be in effect downtown between Friday, Feb. 17 and Monday, Feb. 20 due to the potential for protests this weekend. There will also be an increased presence from the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) and Ottawa Bylaw in the downtown core.

OC Transpo:
OC Transpo buses and O-Train Line 1 will run on a normal weekday schedule.
On Family Day and on every Saturday, Sunday, and holiday, the whole family can ride all day for $11.25 on a single DayPass. Purchase your Family DayPass at any ticket machine or from your bus operator. A family can be made up of as many as six people, with a maximum of two aged 13 years or older. (Children seven and under ride for free every day.)
OC Transpo Customer Service (613-560-5000) will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
All OC Transpo Customer Service Centres are currently closed, but you can visit octranspo.com for the latest updates.
Heartwood House (OC Transpo Lost and Found) will be closed.
Para Transpo:
Para Transpo will operate a holiday service. Regular scheduled trips will be automatically cancelled on Monday. Customers can book trips for Family Day by calling 613-560-5000 or using the online web form.
The reservations line will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The trip cancellation line will be open from 6 a.m. to 12:30 a.m.
The Taxi Coupon line will remain open.

Recreation and cultural services:
Most indoor pools, arenas as well as recreation and fitness centres will be open, operating on a modified schedule. Please check ottawa.ca for details. Please note that some regular public swims may be cancelled on short notice due to a shortage of lifeguards.
Most art centres and museums will be closed on Monday. Please check with the centre or museum directly for details.
City Hall Art Gallery and Karsh-Masson Gallery will be closed.
Shenkman Arts Centre and Meridian Theatres @ Centrepointe will be closed.
The City of Ottawa Archives, Barbara Ann Scott Gallery and Gallery 112 will be closed on Monday.
Ottawa Public Health:

The Sexual Health Clinic and satellite clinics will be closed.
The Site Program office and supervised consumption services at 179 Clarence Street will be closed. The Site mobile van will operate from 5 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
The Ottawa Public Health Information Centre and COVID-19 Information Line will be closed.
The Ottawa Public Health COVID-19 Vaccine Booking line at 613-691-5505 will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday.
Dental clinics will be closed.
The Baby Help Line will be open
Community and Social Services:
The Tom Brown respite centre, at 141 Bayview Station Rd., is currently operating as a 24/7 physical distancing centre and limited respite services will be open.
The Bernard Grandmaître respite centre, at 309 McArthur Ave., will be closed and reopen on Tuesday during regular operating hours.
Municipal child-care services:
All municipal childcare centres will be closed.
