FlixBus expanding service to Toronto-Ottawa route

By CityNews Staff

After launching in Ontario more than five months ago, FlixBus is expanding its services in the province and in New York state.

According to a statement issued by the European mobility company on Monday, Sept. 12 two more stops will be added to its Toronto-Ottawa route as of Thursday, Sept. 15.

FlixBus will be servicing the Whitby (1601 Stellar Dr.) and Kingston (275 Wellington St.) areas as of Thursday as part of its Toronto-Ottawa route. Currently, the company runs two trips every day between the two cities. Buses also stop in Scarborough.

For those looking to fly out of New York state, FlixBus will be extending its Toronto-Buffalo route to Buffalo-Niagara International Airport as of Thursday. There is one trip each way every day except Tuesday. Buses also stop in St. Catharines, Niagara Falls, Ont., Niagara Falls, N.Y., and downtown Buffalo.

The company is one of a few that moved to fill a void after Greyhound Canada announced in 2021 that it was cutting all of its routes and ending operations. It also coincided with the Ontario government’s move that same year to deregulate interregional bus services. FlixBus also operates in the United States, the European Union and Brazil.

FlixBus now services the following Ontario cities: Ottawa, Toronto, Windsor, London, Kitchener, Guelph, Hamilton, St. Catharines and Niagara Falls.
