Parents of children who attend Foster Farm Child Care Centre have been warned of a child at the city-run centre who has tested positive for COVID-19.
Donna Gray, general manager of community and social services department, confirmed the news in a memo to city council Wednesday, adding that the child’s last day at the city-run daycare was on April 16.
The child’s positive status, Gray said, was confirmed on April 19.
“In consultation with Ottawa Public Health, it has been determined that the preschool program at Foster Farm Child Care Centre will be closing for a period of at least 14 days,” Gray detailed in the memo. “There has been no COVID-19 transmission within the centre identified thus far.”
Children’s Service will continue to follow OPH’s guidelines to support everyone’s safety, she added.
OPH confirmed two new outbreaks in the city Wednesday, bringing the city’s total of ongoing outbreaks to 15.
According to OPH data, this is the fourth time the centre declared an outbreak on Ramsay Crescent in the city’s west end.
The first was at a summer camp from August 2 to 14, 2020.
The second outbreak was at the daycare care on October 21 to November 6.
And the third took place at the community centre from March 23 to April 7, 2021.
