Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson is set to testify at the public inquiry into Ottawa's light rail transit (LRT) system at the end of this month.
Public hearings will be held at the University's Faculty of Law, Common Law Section, in its Ian G. Scott Courtroom from June 13 until July 8. The Ottawa Light Rail Transit Public Inquiry released the schedule for witnesses.
The inquiry, led by Justice William Hourigan, is mandated to investigate circumstances that led to Stage 1 breakdowns and derailments. It will look at the decisions and actions in the procurement approach the City took for Stage 1, the decision to select the Rideau Transit Group to build the system and awarding the contract.
Watson will testify on June 30, and City of Ottawa manager Steve Kanellakos will testify on July 4.
Other witnesses scheduled include former OC Transpo general manager John Manconi on June 28, Peter Lauch of the Rideau Transit Group on June 29, while city councillors Allan Hubley, Catherine McKenney, Diane Deans and Sarah Wright-Gilbert, the citizen transit commissioner, are scheduled to speak on June 29.
