Garbage truck hits building in Centretown West causing structural damage

By CityNews Ottawa

Ottawa firefighters responded to a call on Sept. 19 involving a garbage truck hit a fire escape at a three-storey building in Centretown West.

Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) received a call just after 11 a.m. to a building on Cambridge Street North, between Gladstone Avenue and Arlington Avenue.

In a tweet, the OFS said some of the bricks were damage and the building's integrity was compromised. Firefighters built cribbing to shore up the structure of the home and the truck was safely removed and the building has been evacuated as a precaution.

There are no reported injuries.
