Gas prices dropping another two cents on Sept. 2

By Anil Jhalli

More relief at the gas pumps is on the way for Ottawa drivers.

The price of gas fell seven cents at midnight on Sept. 1 to $1.519 cents a litre at most Ottawa stations. It marks the lowest price in the region since late January.

Roger McKnight, chief petroleum analyst at En-Pro International, tweeted on Sept. 1 that the price of gas is going down another two cents on Sept. 2 to $1.499 cents a litre at gas stations across the capital.

McKnight told CityNews last week the return to higher prices is coming, but he doesn’t expect a surge until after Labour Day.

The Ford government implemented a cut of the gas tax by 5.7 cents per litre in Ontario on July 1, and prices dropped 11 cents on that day.

Gas prices hit a record $2.159 a litre in Ottawa in June.
