Hog’s Back swing bridge remains closed for another week

By CityNews Ottawa

The Hog's Back swing bridge is expected to remain closed for an additional week, after being shutdown on May 10 for final testing and preventative work related to the start of Rideau Canal navigation season.

The National Capital Commission (NCC) urges motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians to respect work crews and obey signage and flag persons at the site.

Hog's Back Road was initially only supposed to be shutdown between Colonel By Drive and Prince of Wales Drive for one week between May 10 to 14, but the closure has since been extended.

The NCC expects the Hog's Back swing bridge to remain closed until May 21 at 11 p.m.

After being closed for 14 months, the swing bridge reopened to traffic early last October but then shut down again when work was necessary on the stationary bridge.
