Home under construction catches fire in Orléans

By Alex Black

There are no injuries after a late night fire in a home under construction in Orléans.

Just after 11 p.m. on Wednesday, February 17, Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) responded to several 911 calls reporting a fire on Des Aubrais Crescent, near Lamarche Avenue.

As crews approached the unoccupied two-storey single family home, smoke and flames could be seen, and a working fire was declared.

OFS officials say, due to the house's proximity to other homes, multiple hose lines had to be used to ensure the flames didn't spread.

Crews had the fire under control within 20 minutes.

An OFS investigator has been called in to determine the cause of the fire.
