A long and busy week for the Ottawa Police Traffic Enforcement Unit, with hundreds of charges laid in a school zone enforcement operations at elementary and secondary schools across the city. Officers were focused on speeding in school zones, failing to obey crossing guards or yield to pedestrians, and distracted driving — among other dangerous behaviours
Earlier this week, Traffic Enforcement Officer Jon Hall spoke with 1310 News: Hall says the operation is to remind drivers to pay attention when behind the wheel.
“That's why we're out there. We're out there to remind drivers to drive with care, have a bit of compassion on the roads. Think about the kids.”
Among 540 charges laid during the school zone enforcement, officers nabbed three stunt drivers; two suspended drivers; and seven unlicensed drivers.
