Hydro Ottawa says it is currently experiencing more than 1,000 outages affecting more than 179,000 customers, while Hydro One is attending to 1,530 outages affecting 279,161 customers.

Hydro Ottawa says its crews are “working diligently” to ensure public safety and restore power as soon as possible.

“Power will be restored initially to large scale outages, followed by small ones, keeping safety as the number one priority,” an announcement from Hydro Ottawa said.

“If you see a downed power line, stay at least 10 metres away from the wires and from any objects that are in contact with the lines.”

As of the evening of Saturday, May 20, Hydro One says it anticipates it will take several days to restore power following the storm.

Restoration times will be updated once damage is assessed.
