A server at Findlay Creek's Jonny Canuck's Bar and Grill has her jaw back in place, after a very generous tip left her in disbelief.
Nearly a week after an anonymous customer at the Wellington Diner decided to reward that restaurant's staff with an extra $1,500, Lacey Harris found herself serving one of Jonny Canuck's regular customers, Ken Molnar.
“He had turned the pin pad over to me and just replied, 'I'm not going to tip you $1,500, I'm going to tip you $1,600.' And I think my jaw just hit the floor, I couldn't believe it. There may have been some choice words because I honestly just thought it was a joke,” says Harris.
The server explains it was on a $100 bill.
“I served Ken and his family a few times in the past,” adds Harris. “I've only been here at Johnny Canucks for just over a year now. But I know other staff members have been serving him, I think since the restaurant opened about seven or eight years ago.”
Jonny Canuck's Owner Scott Cavers says gesture was big morale boost for everyone at the restaurant and the generous tip will be shared with all staff.
