Indoor hockey practice in Ottawa leads to 89 positive cases of COVID-19

By Chris Kurys

An indoor hockey practice that was a source of community transmission of COVID-19 has finally stopped spreading, two months later.

Ottawa Public Health (OPH) says it started when one person, who was asymptomatic, went to a hockey practice in the middle of October.

The virus spread, and has since resulted in 89 positive cases, 445 high risk contacts and weeks of stress.

It also led to four outbreaks in schools, one outbreak at a daycare and impacted 10 sports teams.

OPH is outlining that the actions of each individual resident matters, and it's important to remain COVIDwise.
