Kingston police officers requesting public’s assistance in identifying fraud suspect last seen in university district

By CityNews Ottawa

The Kingston Police Service is asking for the public's help in identifying a fraud suspect who was last seen in the town's university district.

On Dec. 9, a man, who introduced himself with fake name, approached an individual and claimed he was a computer technician from Edmonton and recently lost his identification on a train.

The suspect stated he was unable to book a hotel without any identification and asked the victim if he could have $1,000 in exchange for a wire transfer in a couple of days.

After receiving the money he requested, the suspect never sent the wire transfer to the victim.

The suspect is described as Asian, approximately 40-years-old, between 5'3″ and 5'4″ with short black hair. He was clean shaven and was wearing a black jacket and a grey Under Armour baseball cap.

Anyone with information in regards to the identity of this suspect, is asked to please contact Detective Wein at 613-549-4660 ext. 6198 or via email at dwein@kingstonpolice.ca.
