New COVID-19 outbreak declared at Garry J. Armstrong after staff members test positive

A new outbreak has been declared at the City of Ottawa's Garry J. Armstrong long-term care home after two employees have tested positive for COVID-19.
According to a memo from General Manager of Community and Social Services, Donna Gray, late Wednesday, February 3, there are no other outbreaks at any of the other city-run care homes.
The outbreak comes one day after all outbreaks at city-run care homes were lifted.
Garry J. Armstrong will have increased preventative measures introduced while it remains on outbreak status including isolating residents, testing contacts of the confirmed individuals, and providing additional training relating to the outbreak.
Designated caregivers will still be allowed to enter the home, with additional measures in place.
The home is also continuing to follow the advice of Ottawa Public Health (OPH) which includes prohibiting staff and visitors who do not pass the screening process from entering the home, implementing cleaning of high-touch surfaces and common areas, and encouraging staff to maintain physical distance between co-workers.
