Ottawa police cleared of wrongdoing in connection with man’s broken wrist

By Alex Black

Ontario's police watchdog has cleared the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) of any wrongdoing after a man suffered a broken wrist.

According to the Special Investigations Unit, the 24-year-old man did not suffer the injury during his interaction with police officers.

The SIU investigation shows the man was arrested by OPS officers after causing a disturbance in and around a shelter on Murray Street on the evening of July 17, 2021.

SIU Director Joseph Martino says the injury happened before the man's arrest by police and the case is now closed.
