Outbreak at Carling Family Shelter declared over

By Dani-Elle Dubé

The Carling Family Shelter has declared its COVID-19 outbreak over.

The shelter was declared COVID-free on Wednesday by Ottawa Public Health in a memo sent out by Donna Gray, general manager of community and social services to city council members.

The outbreak was announced on December 22, which means the shelters had been under outbreak status for 15 days.

Families are no longer required to isolate.

In order to reduct the risk of spread, preventative measures have already been taken that include residents being required to wear masks in areas where physical distancing is not possible and ensuring all staff in the shelter are wearing marks and appropriate PPE when required.
