Pierre Dorion talks Karlsson, coach, fans

By Stuart McGinn

Ottawa Senators General Manager Pierre Dorion broke his media silence on Thursday.

Following his season-exit interviews with the media at Canadian Tire Centre, Dorion joined Ottawa Today with Mark Sutcliffe on 1310 NEWS to talk recap a what has been a season full of storylines.

Most notably on the minds of fans are the town halls held this week with Dorion and owner Eugene Melnyk, the future for Head Coach Guy Boucher, and of course, what is going to happen with Erik Karlsson.

“I have to be careful with Erik Karlsson,” said Dorion, after having told fans this week about his intentions for signing him to an eight-year term and making a promise to not trade him at the draft. “I possibly or possibly not could've gotten an email from the league.”

Aside from that slip-up, Dorion was happy with how the town hall meetings went, saying it was valuable to hear from a fan perspective the things that need to be worked on to improve their game experience.

“I had no idea that getting out of the parking lot was so bad, because most of the time we end up staying here for an hour and a half after games.” said Dorion.

The General Manager also spoke on the future of the team's head coach.
