It is Giving Tuesday at Ronald McDonald House (RMH), which is also the start of a month long fundraiser.
Those houses across Canada have seen a drop in funding of between 30 and 70 per cent, due to the cancellation of fundraising events because of COVID-19.
Ronald McDonald Houses supports families of seriously ill children.
The charity says 100 per cent of the money generated locally will stay with the National Capital Children’s Oncology Care Inc. Manoir Ronald McDonald House Ottawa next to CHEO.
12 of Canada’s 15 Ronald McDonald Houses continue to support existing families during COVID-19 by providing overnight accommodations, meals, and support.
Donations will help to provide families with:
- Individually packaged non-perishable food
- Hot meals
- Extra cleaning supplies for advanced cleaning procedures
- Gift of Family Nights to help a family stay together at an RMH
The goal is to raise $387,000.
