Ross Video breaks ground on $15-million expansion in Iroquois

By Mike Vlasveld

Ross Video is expanding its Iroquois manufacturing facility with the aim of reducing its carbon footprint.

“People care a lot about the company that they work for. I think especially nowadays, it's not just a paycheck, and it's not even just the work, it's more what the company does in the community and around the world,” says CEO David Ross.

He and delegates from the provincial government broke ground on the 55,000 square foot expansion, Thursday, August 5. The project comes with a price tag of $15-million.

“We are a manufacturer. There's no big smoke stack or anything else like that, but we do consume electrical power and [we're] trying to figure out how to do that more efficiently.”

Ross is one of three Cornwall-area businesses receiving Ontario government funding, with nearly $3-million in Regional Development Program Invested.

The Ottawa-based live video production company, which works on such projects as the Super Bowl and the Oscars, is also one of the largest manufacturers of professional television control room equipment in the world.

Not only does this project include the expansion of the Iroquois facility, but the funding will help purchase new equipment and add local capacity for consolidation of operations from international acquisitions. The expansion will also increase production efficiencies, facilitate innovation and expand sales into new markets.

Ross says the expansion, which is set to open next year, should allow his company to make about 40 new hires.

Ross Video announced earlier this year that it would be hiring upwards of 200 people as it hoped to surpass 1000 employees in 2021, despite the ongoing pandemic.
