Ryan Reynolds cast as Ottawa Public Health’s ‘Bruce the social media intern’

By Jason White

Ottawa Public Health has recruited some major star power in its fight against COVID-19, tapping Canadian heartthrob Ryan Reynolds to come forward as “Bruce,” the social media intern behind a Super Bowl tweet that went viral.

In the video, Reynolds claims to be the one who left out the winning team's name and logo from Ottawa Public Health's tweet on Super Bowl Sunday.

The video contains on-screen reminders to fight COVID-19, like “wash your hands,” “stay home,” and “wear a mask.”

The video concludes with Reynolds encouraging Ottawa residents with the message, “steady as she goes.”

It's not the first time Reynolds has used his star power to help Ottawa during the pandemic; last April, Reynolds donated $2,000 to the Distress Centre of Ottawa.
