Two eastern Ontario hospitals reopen emergency departments

Two hospitals in eastern Ontario have reopened their emergency departments after temporarily closing them over the Labour Day long weekend. 

The Glengarry Memorial Hospital, located in Alexandria, Ontario, closed its emergency services from 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 3 and reopened at 8 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 4 while the emergency department of the Carleton Place and District Memorial Hospital has reopened after closing overnight on Saturday, Sept. 3. 

The hospital resumed emergency services at 7 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 4. 

The Kemptville District Hospital’s emergency department also closed over the long weekend, and will reopen on Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 7 a.m. 

The three hospitals closed their emergency departments due to ongoing staffing shortages.
