UPDATE: Nine more Ottawa paramedics test positive for COVID-19 following social gathering

The City of Ottawa is confirming another nine of the city's paramedics have tested positive for COVID-19, following a social gathering on December 15.

The city said in a statement on December 24, there are currently 45 active cases of the virus among the Ottawa Paramedic Service. 

Day-seven PCR COVID-19 testing has been completed for high-risk contacts, and the service is currently awaiting results.

A total of 125 low to moderate risk contacts have also been identified, but the service is unaware of any positive cases among this group.

It adds it will continue to mitigate impacts to service delivery, and will implement further contingency plans as required.

A final update will be provided upon receiving final testing results.
