Upper Ottawa Valley OPP lay 29 charges for seatbelt infractions during Easter weekend blitz

By Alex Black

The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted an Easter long weekend seat belt campaign, which resulted in 29 charges being laid.

The spring safety campaign ran from Friday, April 15 to Monday, April 18, 2022, with officers primarily focused on motorists who were not obeying seatbelt laws — including lack of occupant restraint.

While the safety campaign has wrapped up, the OPP is reminding the public that officers are committed to traffic safety enforcement and education year-round.
