Upper Ottawa Valley OPP probing two cases of prescription fraud

Provincial police are investigating reports of attempted prescription fraud in Pembroke and Petawawa. 

According to the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), an unknown person or persons faxed fraudulent prescriptions to two pharmacies on Monday, January 25. 

Police say the prescriptions were not filled and an investigation into the source is now underway. 

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP at 613-732-3332, Pembroke/Renfrew County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or through www.valleytips.ca.  

The OPP is also reminding those who sell and dispense medication to always verify the authenticity of a prescription if there is any question regarding its validity.
