What to do in Ottawa this weekend

Summer finally decided to show up, with sunny skies in the forecast all weekend long.
Saturday's expected high is 24 °C and Sunday's is 31 °C!
The sun comes at a perfect time as there are plenty of local, family-friendly events.
Westfest starts Friday night and runs until Sunday. In it's 16th year 'Ottawa's favorite free festival' takes place at Tom Brown Arena and Park in Hintonburg.
“It showcases a broad range of artists, mostly from Ottawa,” said Jules Ribi, Westfest publicist. “And make that music and that art accesible to anyone.”
She tells 1310 NEWS she's so excited that the weather will be nice.
Ribi says they have a hydration station for anyone with a reusable water bottle.

There are two beer festivals happening this weekend.
The Festibière Gatineau is taking place on the Zibi lands.
The event, which started Thursday and runs through Saturday, is in its ninth year.
There are over 30 microbreweries and 10 distilleries, which is the most vendors they've ever had.
Just because there's more alcohol than ever doesn't mean it's not a great place to bring the family.
“The event is free for kids under the age of seventeen,” said Alex Van Dieren, co-founder of the Gatineau Beer Fest. “They're able to do some tastings with root beers and chocolate.”

The second beer festival is the Orléans Craft Beer fest, which is taking place on Centrum Boulevard near the Shenkman Theatre.
Festival organizer Kevin Hurtubise tells 1310 NEWS they have a little bit of everything.
“We've got about 33 different craft beers, live music, games, food trucks, wine and spirits” explained Hurtubise.
This is the festival's third year and he expects a big turnout this weekend.
“We have over 1000 steps involved in putting these festivals together,” he explained. “You can't plan for weather, so (this year) we're blessed.”

Other events happening this weekend include Italian Week, which runs until June 16 and takes place on Preston Street.
