Aggravated assault and arson charges for Pembroke man after break-in

Upper Ottawa Valley Ontario Provincial Police have tracked down a man, accused of assaulting a man after breaking into his home, stealing his car and lighting it on fire.
Back on March 27, the OPP began investigating a break and enter was at a home on Round Lake Road in Laurentian Valley.
Police say the property owner returned home at around 9:30 p.m. that night and was assaulted by a man who had broken into his house.
The home owner sustained serious injuries as a result of the assault.
The suspect then stole the victim's vehicle and fled the scene. The vehicle, which had been burned, was recovered a short time later on Round Lake Road.
Kevin Garfield John was arrested on Wednesday, October 10. He faces the following charges:
– Aggravated assault
– Arson
– Robbery with violence
He was held for a bail hearing and remains in custody until his next court appearance on October 12 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.
Investigators believe the incident was not random in nature.
Police are not looking for any further suspects and say there are no known public safety concerns.
