A 32-year-old Ottawa man is facing a list of charges after an incident, which started as a routine traffic stop on King Edward Avenue.
Additional police cars were called to King Edward Avenue near Rideau Street to help bring a vehicle to a stop at 12:10 a.m., Tuesday.
Using a police technique under the Suspect Apprehension Pursuit, the officers were successful in stopping the vehicle, even as the driver intentionally drove the vehicle into the police cruisers, trying to flee.
The driver was arrested at the scene and then taken to hospital, as police say he was heavily impaired.
Ronald Eby is facing charges of:
– Impaired driving by drugs
– Dangerous driving
– Flight from police
– Mischief
– Resisting arrest
– Failure to stop
– Misuse of plates
– Driving with no license
– Breach of probation
Eby will be attending show cause court Tuesday.
