House explosion in Pembroke result of ‘drug lab’: Petawawa man charged

A Petawawa man is facing charges connected to an explosion in a Pembroke home last Thursday, a location police say was a clandestine drug lab.
Upper Ottawa Valley OPP were called March 8, 2018 about an explosion in a home on D'arcy Street.
A man and a three-month old baby were in the house at the of the incident. Both were taken to hospital to be checked out, but police don't say if either were injured.
The Ontario Fire Marshall and the OPP are investigating the explosion as the result of a “butane marijuana extraction lab” and have charged Kurt Dehaan, 31, with eight charges including Production for the Purposes of Trafficking, and Arson by Negligence.
Dehaan is slated to appear in a Pembroke court next month.
The investigation is continuing.
