OPP investigate crash that killed motorcyclist in Winchester

A motorcyclist is dead after their motorcycle crashed into an SUV in Winchester.

According to Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry OPP, they were called to the scene of the crash at the intersection of County Road 31 and County Road 43 (South Junction) Friday just before 5 p.m.

The initial investigation has indicated that a south-bound SUV entered the north-bound lane and struck the motorcycle.

An adult male driver of the bike was pronounced dead at the scene.

The adult male driver of the SUV has been transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The identities of both are being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.

The details of the accident remain under investigation.

A section of County Road 31 is closed to traffic with indicated detours in place.

Road closures are located  at County Road 31/43 through County Road 43 at Belanger Road, County Road 31 and Baker Road, County Road 38 and Pemberton Road.

Re-opening time is currently unknown.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
