Police charge driver after Orléans crash

Ottawa police have charged a man who allegedly ran a red light and struck a police cruiser in Orléans at about 1:45 a.m. Saturday.

Police charged the man with leaving the scene of an accident, careless driving, driving a motor vehicle with no valid licence, failing to remain and driving a motor vehicle with no insurance.

The officer was traveling northbound on Champlain Street in a patrol car, when he was struck at Jeanne D'Arc Boulevard, police said.
