Police identify pedestrian killed on Hwy 417

The Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is identifying a man killed on the Queensway as Gordon Pitseolak.

The 22-year-old is from Pangnirtung, Nunavut.

Police were called to Hwy 417 westbound near St. Laurent Boulevard at 10:33 p.m. on Sunday for a fatal crash, involving a pedestrian.

Multiple westbound lanes were closed, but have since reopened. 

The ministry of Transportation assisted with traffic control in the area. The Ottawa Police Service assisted the OPP to identify the deceased.     

The investigation is continuing and the OPP is asking anyone with information regarding this incident to contact police as 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS), where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
