Suspect wanted in Barrhaven assault and food robbery

By Mike Vlasveld

The Ottawa Police Service is investigating a robbery at a restaurant on Strandherd Drive at Greenbank Road, and needs the public's help in identifying a suspect.

Officers say a man walked into a restaurant on Sunday, February 10, just after midnight, and waited in the lobby until an opportunity arose that food was ready to be served. He then grabbed the food and started to head to the front door. An employee confronted the suspect before reaching the front door — that's when the suspect assaulted the employee and took off.

The male suspect is described as:

  • Black
  • 5' 10'' to 6' (178 cm to 183 cm)
  • In his late teens or early 20s
  • Slender build
  • Clean-shaven
  • Short dark hair
  • Wearing white running shoes, blue jeans, and a dark-coloured hooded sweatshirt under a dark-coloured jacket with a hood.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to call the Robbery Unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5116.

Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), or by downloading the Ottawa Police app.
