A 17-year-old was charged with stunt driving for the third time in nine months last night, and more than 40 tickets were handed out by the Traffic Unit of the Ottawa Police Services (OPS).

According to a tweet, the youth was stopped going 142 km in a 70km/h zone on Old Second Line Road and had been posting about their excess speeds on social media.

Three other stunt driving tickets were issued, with one driver going 140km in an 80km/h zone on Limebank and Leitrim Road, and another going 175km in a 70 km/h zone on Prince of Wales and Lodge Road.

In total, 47 offences were issued for infractions ranging from speeding, cell phones, improper mufflers, tires and brakes and four charges of driving while suspended.

One of the suspended drivers was a G1, who was driving unaccompanied and had no insurance.

The tickets are part of project Noisemaker which cracks down on speeding, stunt driving and excessively noisy vehicles.
